With just two weeks until the highly anticipated release of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the book reviews are beginning to come out. They include excerpts that reveal some plot details, including chivalry, minor characters, and … ninjas!

Entertainment Weekly’s review gives the book an A- and discusses opposing Chinese and Japanese zombie fighting techniques in Regency England. Its excerpt reveals some of the nuances involved when Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy slay zombies together.

The San Luis Obispo Tribune’s mostly positive review borders on giving spoilers when it comes to a few of the book’s minor characters (Wickham and Collins). It mentions that the end of the book contains a “Readers Discussion guide”, that actually asks, “Can you imagine what the book would be like without the zombies?” Yes, the reviewer can: “Something like Pride and Prejudice.”

Dead Set, a “reality” TV show where zombies invade the set of Big Brother, debuted in the UK last October and was rebroadcast this January. There’s still no word on when this (or any UK zombie show) will hit primetime in the US, but the show has been licensed by four international TV stations in Sweden, Spain, Africa, and Australia.

I just realized on my last post on the Dead Rising Music Video that on related posts I saw Dead Rising for the Wii but not the original game! Yes the original 360 version of Dead Rising was not in my games list and this was something that NEEDED to be remedied. How can I have such a classic just blatantly overlooked?? I feel bad about adding a game this old but I do like to keep our listings on zombie items you can buy as complete as possible.

One of the more fun 360 games to hit the early lineup and the one I STILL haven’t gotten the Zombie Genocider achievement on. For those of you wondering it’s for killing at least 53,594 zombies in 1 sitting, or the population of the town.

Dead Rising 2 WILL Have Up To 6000 Zombies On Screen At Once!

Blue Castle Games, who is developing Dead Rising 2 for Capcom, let the world know something great at the 2009 Game Developer Conference. Something so outstanding it might be a little hard to believe. Dead Rising 2. WILL have up to 6,000 zombies on screen. 6000 Zombies. 6 THOUSAND ZOMBIES. Not only is this the most zombies that you will see on screen for a video game ever, this is also the largest amount of characters that has been shown on screen within a video game as well. This is at technical breakthrough and being done to support the greatness of zombies, or in this case slaying zombies. I seriously can NOT wait to be able to see this happen. I’m sure there won’t be that many zombies on screen throughout the entire game but the one or two areas that they take full advantage of being able to do this will be amazing to say the least.

Last October, Erik confirmed that we’d be seeing Zombies!!! on a variety of gaming platforms some time in 2009.

Well, we’ve hit a little bump in the road for the development of the video game adaptation of popular board game. The original developer, Big Rooster, seems to have dropped from the face of the earth completely. The creator of the board game, Twilight Creations, is currently looking for a new developer to bring this game to the video gaming world.

I’ll keep you updated as to how this affects the release schedule.

Raimi Talks Up Evil Dead 4.. again

Not the latest news but I realized I didn’t post about it while I found out about it. While a relaunch of the Evil Dead series is in the works looking for a director, Raimi has again brought up that an Evil Dead 4 starring Bruce Campbell is something that he would really love to give a go. This is something that he has been bringing up on and off for years but due to being back logged with some minor comic franchise involving a spider I’m sure his plate has been a bit full. Since he’s agreed to work on the forth for THAT series I think everyone here can agree it’s time to bring up the forth movie in the series that got him started. The Evil Dead series. Ash needs to come back. It’s overdue and something that will make all of us much happier people.

Via an interview with IGN - “I liked Indy 4,” Raimi said when we put this to him. “He’s probably just trying to get out of getting in shape!

“Like any movie it’s hard to say if you want to do it or if you don’t want to do it until there is a script to talk about,” he continued. “So one day I hope to have the time to write a script, and if that happens I’m hoping that Bruce will change his mind.””

Zombies of the Night - Trailer and Photos

Zombies of the Night is a movie that is in production due out last year so hopefully we will be seeing it come out this year! “Tom, a carefree guy, living in his parents caravan in Devon, fights for his survival! In just the last few hours, there have been serious reports concerning the recent epidemic of foot and mouth. Disturbing eye witness accounts have explained how the disease is now possibly airborne, and could have mutated in to a deadly human virus.”

Zombie Carts - Flash Game

This is a pretty basic side scroller that you are a zombie pushing a shopping cart to both: collect your “dinner” (brains, organs, etc) and beat the other zombies to the finish line. It’s basic but a great way to kill a couple of minutes online while enjoying some undead fun.

Skeet Shoot Of The Living Dead

Wow. All I can say. Stop motion claymation is something that takes a LONG time to do properly and this quickie of a zombie munching on someone who is in turn shot by a couple of guys is just amazing that someone would take the time to do for a side project. If you do a quick search on youtube for Zombie Claymation a LOT of projects come up. This though has to be one of, if not the, best one out there.

Lost Zombies Objective Video

I’m sure I’ve written about the Lost Zombies project before. If not to be brief its a community zombie documentary project. Similar to the idea of World War Z where you would combine quite a few zombie stories into one this is a project doing the same thing!

They have a full set of rules and even a timeline of the whens and hows of the zombie outbreak to follow on submissions. This video is a good overview of what they are looking for though. As I love what their doing I just wanted to give them some linkage since the idea is amazing and hopefully one that will catch on.
